Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Working at Experian involves a combination of problem-solving, technical knowledge, and continuous learning. On a day to day basis, your role can vary greatly between collaborating with other developers, volunteering for social impact, or making improvements in your learning. As developers, we tend to work in structured workflows which are typically agile, attending stand-up meetings, planning tasks, and delivering incremental updates.
A key part of the role is understanding user requirements and translating them into functional solutions, not only at work but at university too. Testing and maintaining code is equally important to ensure that applications remain reliable and scalable over time.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
From my experience on the programme, I have found that I enjoy the practical, problem-solving aspects the most, particularly when building applications and seeing a direct outcome from my work. The tasks that we do can be challenging but they are also rewarding once resolved. The programme has helped me build both technical skills and confidence in approaching complex problems.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed both new and existing skills throughout my programme, particularly in technical and problem-solving areas. I have strengthened my ability to write structured, readable code and gained experience working with different frameworks. I have also developed transferable skills such as time management, communication, and working collaboratively within a team environment. For example, I am now more comfortable explaining my thought process and contributing to discussions, which has helped improve both my confidence and effectiveness when working on shared tasks. Overall, I have seen clear progress in both my technical capability and my approach to learning and problem solving.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
There is structure in the programme from the day you join to the day you graduate, and even beyond that. When you join, you are placed into the 'early careers' programme for 2 years, to help you gain confidence and professionalism, whilst learning everything you need to know. After this, you are still supported by line managers, as well as their managers.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
The support received is amazing. Any type of problem that you have, whether that be with work or university can be discussed to make accommodations that are structured around you.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The training provider, NTU, has a dedicated team to support just us, with whom we regularly have progress review meetings to make sure that there is complete clarity between us, our employer, and them.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The qualification definitely helps, especially with the technical aspects as it provides the foundation of everything we need. For example, thinking logically.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
At work there are multiple ERGs which anybody can join.
