Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Experian?
Experian has been the best employer I have had so far in my professional career (this is after working in an accounting firm for my placement year and a finance assistant role as a summer job before starting at Experian). They are extremely flexible and people focused, everyone is very friendly, and there is a real culture of wanting the best for their employees and giving them plenty of space to grow in the company. When interviewing I read online on how they were rated highly by employees and in my experience the positive reviews hold true.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
I joined as a finance graduate so a lot of my role is based on budgeting, forecasting, analysing trends and KPIs and helping to advise in strategy. There are loads of different business units for all arms of the Experian UK&I business so lots of variety. I enjoy most the depth and flexibility you get in completing your work, you'll be given tasks and guidance but after that you experiment and find your own ways of drawing conclusions which is challenging and rewarding (with guidance from your manager when you need it!)
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
My manager and wider team always include me where I can help and when I need more work and I am unsure of anything, they will always try to make time to help me out.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
For a graduate starting salary I am paid well and they offer a discretionary bonus and an option to join the employee share scheme. They have a pretty generous pension contribution too.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
Working in industry is an area I have always been interested in as I did my placement year in practice, and my role Experian has been everything I could've hoped for. There is lots of room to grow and every day I learn new things about the finance industry.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
The training at Experian is also a highlight. While technical training for the role is limited, the Early Careers team run several soft skills training sessions throughout the year which are always highlights and help me to get to know others in my graduate cohort better.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
Work life balance is very good. There is an expectation to be in the office 40% of the working week but this is more than manageable.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
How would you rate Experian initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
How would you rate Experian CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Experian to a friend?
Yes
Why?
They exceeded all measures of what I had for them when doing my company research. This is a company that really values their employees.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
Exceeded my expectations.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Experian?
Research the company well. In my interview prep I was scouring their financial statements for information I could place into answers on "why do you want to work here" or "what skills do you have". Also don't be afraid to get in touch with current Experian graduates to ask for advice, its shows you've gone the extra mile and you can get further insights in working at Experian and your role (more than you can find online). Try to get any experience you can as well, whether you did a placement year or not, any experience on top of your degree is better than nothing (LinkedIn courses, roles within a university society, volunteering) - things to pad your elevator pitch go a long way.
