Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role involves supporting children with a wide range on needs. I prepare the environment and recourses. Throughout the day I support children 1:1 or in small groups to help them to engage in play-based learning, follow routines and build key communication skills. I provide personal care to the children and record their progress to inform their learning plans. On a Thursday, I engage in my online university with Coventry University.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy learning through an apprenticeship style. My school environment and school based mentor is very supportive.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned how to write academically through begining my apprenticeship. I have gained new skills supporting the SENCO and SEN needs. This includes supporting to create new targets and planning.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is well organised. I always have a set university day and a clear timetable. This helps me stay on track and manage my workload.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive regular email updates from the trust to let me know what support I can access for physical and mental health. My school mentor is very supportive and helps me with all aspects of my role.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have received a range of training from my provider. Before I started my role I completed safeguarding, Prevent, GDPR , Cyber security and fire safety training. I have completed a STEPS autism training to support me in my role.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My apprenticeship is directly relevant to my role. I use strategies that I learn in university to influence my practice.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
