Managing and improving the school facilities and working with the Principal to ensure the school is a safe, warm & dry place for the children to start their education

I enjoy my time here very much, the team care about each other and the children they are in the care of.
I have found the environment very rewarding and a much healthier work live balance then in my previous working career.

I have been able to develop my understanding of the regulations and legislation which works within the facilities management umbrella.
I have also been able to polish my 'tools' skills working on active and reactive repairs and improvements to the school.

The course is split into manageable sections and they are clearly outlined and discussed with the course tutor.
The timeline and process of working through the course was gone through from the beginning so it was very clear what was needed and the time required for the work to be completed

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have been provided with 'off the job' hours to complete and research the course and work through the allocated tasks. I have also been assisted by some of the senior team who are always happy to help and provide assistance should I need it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

As the course has been broken up into smaller sections with allotted tasks it has been easy to work through. Any questions have been quickly answered and the team has always been available should they be needed for anything.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

By having a formal & recognised qualification it provides a more in-depth knowledge of the requirements for the correct way to manage the school and the reason and importance of maintenance and following regulations to protect the pupils and staff.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

there are lots of events ran by the school socially as well as including the local community & pupils.
I have volunteered as a staff governor so am on the governing body for the school as well as working some of the external fundraising events. Summer fayre, Fireworks etc

Why?
I have found the trust to be welcoming and very caring about fulfilling their responsibility to teaching and providing the best opportunities for the children we have within our care.
They have a CEO who strives for inclusion and looks at ways to work within the academy and with all schools and academies to try and improve the way in which we work.
This is a fundamental part of the Trust and it is obvious they care greatly about the responsibility they have towards providing the most education and opportunity for all children no matter their background or socioeconomic status.
