Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My day-to-day responsibilities vary depending on whether I am working from home or in the office. On office days, I prioritise in-person collaboration and networking, particularly when my schedule allows for more interactive engagement outside of back-to-back meetings.
A typical day includes leading or participating in daily stand-up calls to identify and address risks, issues, and blockers. I also facilitate team meetings to align on priorities, ensuring clarity on objectives and deliverables for the week ahead.
In addition, I manage coordination with third-party stakeholders, monitoring progress against agreed timelines and ensuring tasks are completed or updated as required. This involves regular follow-ups and maintaining clear communication to keep all parties aligned and accountable.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Throughout my apprenticeship, I have developed both new skills and strengthened existing ones, particularly in time management and workload organisation. Balancing full-time work alongside study has required consistent discipline, as my role involves four days in the workplace and one dedicated study day, with additional learning often extending beyond that.
I have also significantly improved my communication skills. Working within a large organisation has reinforced the importance of using my voice to ensure my contributions are heard. This is especially critical in project environments, where communication must be clear, timely, and well understood by all stakeholders.
In addition, I have grown in confidence with networking. Initially, this felt quite daunting when I first joined the FCA, but I now recognise its importance for both personal and professional development. Building connections across teams has been valuable not only for increasing my visibility, but also as a support network. For example, if I encounter a challenge in my day-to-day work or within a project, I can reach out to contacts I have previously connected with for guidance and collaboration.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend the FCA to a friend because it offers strong career growth and plenty of opportunities. You can move between roles, develop your skills in different areas, and continue to challenge yourself while progressing professionally.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)?
My advice would be to go in with an open mind and be ready to learn. At the FCA, there are lots of different areas you can explore, so being flexible and curious really helps. If you show that you’re willing to grow and take on new challenges, it can open up a lot of opportunities.
