Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is extremely varied, some days I am on a range of calls with lots of different people. In these calls we make strategic decisions and solve technical issues. Other days I spend lots of time on data oriented tasks, this can be calculating and reporting incomes, looking at client data, or building dashboards and spreadsheets.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The programme is fantastic, the work is engaging and interesting. However the best part of the programme is the people, everyone is approachable and friendly. I am able to speak with people from all walks of life around the office which fosters a friendly and fantasic learning environment.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
On one side I have learned technical skills, such as operating workplace software (excel, powerbi, STAR), however the main skills are soft skills. My ability to take and own decisions has improved drastically, I can solve real world issues through innovatve solutions and my confidence to speak with senior colleages is improving.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The scheme is very organised, I have dedicated time to complete my apprenticeship work, and my colleagues are aware of my needs as an apprentice. The only issue I have is that the software used my training provider is unnecissaritly complicated to navigate.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Great support from both my manager and the wider bank. Everyone is aware of my apprenticeship day and respects that I need the time to complete my degree. Additionally there are always people on standby to help and assist with any needs I have more generally.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
There are regular calls with the talent coach, and lecutres every Monday. I know what I am doing and when it needs to be due in. Only issue is the outdated software which is a pain to use.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Not directly relevant to my role, I work in delivery which is oriented around soft skills as opposed to technical knowledge, but the ability to understand fundamentals of the industry and how banks operate allows me to comprehend and make decisions more efficiently.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are lots of networks to get involved in, I am part of the grad and apprentice network which hosts a range of networking events, whether that be quizzes, gameshows or more general networking. There are sporting groups people can join, but also more niche groups to tailor to all interests and cultures.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Lloyds Banking Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The bank grants lots of responsbility with not much credibility, this allows you to build a portfolio of work that speaks for itself. I feel that traditional education routes are becoming oversaturated and simply having a degree is not enough. Proving your efficiency through practical tasks makes you far more employable, and at Lloyds there is no shortage of oppurtunities to set yourself apart from the crowd.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lloyds Banking Group?
My biggest tip is to imagine the person you would want to work with, and then become that person. Many people approach interviews or questions in a robotic corporate way, and every candidate will do that. That makes you forgettable. What stands Lloyds apart from other large corporates is the values and the people that work here. Everyone is approachable and knowledgeable. While everyone is highly skilled in their areas, their biggest skills is their approachability and soft skills. If you want to succeed, you need to be human!
