My role is a finance operations apprentice and alongside the work I am studying towards AAT level 3. The role involves 4 seats each in 6 month slots of Procurement, E-billing, Treasury and Accounts Payable. The seat gives you a wide range of experience into the different operations in finance and sets you up perfectly for post-qualification life when the apprenticeship is done. At Addleshaw Goddard there is a wide cohort of apprentices and others studying towards qualifications so you can almost see what your future will look like at the firm because there is a variety of people at staggered levels in their career, for me in accountancy.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my programme, the firm is full of friendly and sociable people, everyone is willing to help. Joining as an apprentice has not held me back from any conversations or interactions with anyone, seniority here is respected but not abused in a way lower level employees don't have the same treatment as higher level.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I am currently on my second seat from my 4 seat rotation and I already feel like I have learned so much I really enjoy the idea and process of a hot seat. The only thing I would improve is a greater exposure to accountancy within the firm given I am doing an accounts assistant qualification. However, like I said, there is many people who have done what I have done and they are always free to help.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is a very good structure, I get given lots of time and space to be able to complete what I need to do apprenticeship wise.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

There is lots of support from the employer, there is quarterly check-ins with the early careers team and even still between those dates they are readily available to give help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The training provider gives me lots of support, with revision classes after the theory and check ins with the talent coach.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I do feel like more and more things I can see are becoming transferrable to my role, however like I mentioned before my role doesn't directly involve what I am learning so there's not loads to judge on.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes there is sports teams and social activities, I don't feel like the sports teams are easy to find out about it does take some digging and asking around but they are there.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Addleshaw Goddard?
Be yourself, the office is a very fun and friendly place, once you have submitted your grades/qualifications or experience also show the interviewer if you are someone they want to be around day-to-day in the office.
