Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Every day is a varied day and it's true that as PCSO you feel a bit like your own boss because you can pick up your own work load. Yes at times we have to be there for incidents in the community however we can also schedule meetings with community partners and organisations that assist the Police as a whole. On top of this I am part of a good team of people which makes my job better for sure.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The lecturers and management of the education part of this programme are brilliant at their jobs and have helped to make my transition into a member of a neighbourhood policing team, an easy and relaxed process however they clearly set out expectations which I believe is fundamental to be succesful.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have improved my Negotiation skills and I have also further developed my ability to remain calm under pressure whilst also developing a great deal of courage.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
From beginning to end the programme is structured in a very sensible and easy to follow process in my opinion.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My managers at work have been extremely supportive particularly with my medical needs and have set up a flexible shift pattern for me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
All of my portfolio evidence from my apprenticeship is checked closely by my trainer/assessor and he gives me detailed feedback to support my evidence to be effective.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification has a number of areas which are linked to my job such as community engagement, conflict resolution, first responder and problem orientated policing.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes Northumbria police has a Sports and Social Club which I am part of.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Northumbria Police to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I say yes but I suppose it also depends on the character of the individual. For those who are good at communicating with others, then I would recommend it.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Northumbria Police?
Everyone has strengths they can bring to the role and actually they can improve their skills and use it to solve difficult situations.
