Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I began shadowing my coworkers to increase my confidence in branch. Completing workbooks with sale based and geography questions. Progressed to interact with customers and learning our selling systems. During the working days I also had apprentice work to complete such as fact files for destinations and research on suppliers. Began to take part in everyday tasks such as checking window deal prices and creating facebook post. Finally I started to sell holidays within 4 months of beginning the role and was bale to take part in supporting my branch in all areas of the job.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoyed the programme and it was a great opportunity, I am glad i completed it to gain the qualification. It really supported me financially whilst gaining an education which I wasn't confident would be possible. I wouldn't recommend a long commute as it does make the job challenging. I would of enjoyed it more learning in person to engage with other people more out of branch.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt lots about the travel industry and how it works as well as how companies work in general. It has opened my eyes to the world of work and I'm learning what I want my place to be within it each day. I have progressed cognitive and basic language/ communication skills. I have learnt about admin and how to approach professional situations better. I can understand different uses of different systems.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I feel there are areas that need improving. At the beginning of the programme I had contradictory emails, I was confused if I had gotten the position or not. At the beginning I was lead to believe I was training in person but got informed a matter of days before my first day I would be training online. During my apprenticeship my manger changed and this new manager had missed the managing your apprentice training. This meant me and my manager were learning together which i felt was a disadvantage to me as I had to guide her through my apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Training was amazing. I received Cognissit training throughout the programme. I was given time to develop my knowledge and skills of the counter. To complete my 20 hours of the job learning that needed to be achieved. Whenever I wanted to attend ship visits or roadshows my manager made it possible. She is flexible if I needed certain days off and would aways ensure the Rota fit with my needs.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I had support from trainers at all times. I could call, text email them if I needed anything. I could be honest when I was struggling or if I was confused and get that extra support from them when needed.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The training was great and really informative but I struggle to take loads of information in when its over a call so I do wish more training was done in person. But I wouldn't have understood a lot about the company values and legal regulation the training wasn't provided at the standard it was.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
We do a charity event one or twice a year which is great fun but I do wish more activities would be set for team building as I believe its important to help teams communicate efficiently.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Hays Travel to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would if they were close to home and were leaving school. For people older with lots of customer service training I would recommend not the apprenticship but new to travel.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Hays Travel?
if you have experience in customer service travel and tourism don't do the apprenticeships. go into a new to travel role which is faster and has the same out come of the job role.
