Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Procuring materials and plant and paying invoices. Setting up subcontractors and paying them. Cost reviews and ensuring commercial documents are up to date.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Good mix of university and on site work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes i’ve developed a lot of skills being in university and on site.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme in theory is organised. However, sometimes they send us up to uni when the exam board hasn’t even given out the assignments/ exams so there’s not 100% direction on what to learn at that point but we ca still learn what the teacher thinks will come up.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Good support as we get study leave
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Frequent calls to monitor progress
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I work in civil construction yet the degree is based around housing. However, sometimes modules there are crossovers which help.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes. There’s been a few networking events.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend bam due to job security. However, the pay is massively behind all other companies which means most apprentices will leave and not have a long term career with Bam.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAM?
Work as a team and show you’re a team player as a construction project is a team environment.
