Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My job role involves caring for all of the children in the nursery and supporting my key children with their individual care needs. I also support their development and learning through play and interaction.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I’m really enjoying my programme as I find the job really rewarding and enjoy learning ways to improve my practice. My tutor does an amazing job at training and makes it enjoyable to do my apprenticeship.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I’ve learnt so much during my apprenticeship. Specifically how to support the children in their daily care routines. It allows me to improve my practice in the nursery and feel more confident as I can bring all of the knowledge I learn into the nursery.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The structure of the programme is great as before you start you get given all of the curriculum and dates you will be completing so that you know what you’re learning next.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer does an amazing job at supporting me through my apprenticeship. She’s very approachable and I feel as though I can go to her for anything I need help with.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The training providers do an amazing job at teaching me everything I need to know. They do regular training sessions and observations with us to keep us on track. They’re also very approachable and I feel as though I can talk to them about anything I may need support with.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It improves my confidence as I learn so much through my training providers that I can then bring into the nursery. They also help to keep me on track to complete my apprenticeship.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We do regular staff socials which allows us to all get together outside of working times.

Would you recommend Puffins of Exeter to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I feel as though they’ve been really supportive throughout my apprenticeship and I’ve learnt everything I know through them. Puffins also have core values such as being kind which I feel they really stick to with their staff. It’s also a really rewarding job as it allows you to see and help the children meeting their milestones.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Puffins of Exeter?
Take all opportunities you’re given and ask for support when you need it!
