As a Deputy Manager in an early years setting, I support the day-to-day running of the provision, ensuring high standards of care, learning, and safeguarding for all children. I work closely with the manager and staff team to create a positive, inclusive environment that promotes children’s development and well-being. Alongside this role, I am currently completing my Level 3 Leadership apprenticeship, which is strengthening my ability to support both colleagues and learners through effective guidance, communication, and reflective practice. This training is enhancing my leadership skills and enabling me to contribute more confidently to staff development and team support within the setting
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am really enjoying my Level 3 Leadership and Management programme as it is helping me grow in confidence and develop my skills as a leader within the early years setting. The course is giving me a better understanding of how to support and motivate my team, manage responsibilities effectively, and reflect on my own practice. I particularly value how the learning links directly to my role as Deputy Manager, allowing me to apply new knowledge in real situations. Overall, the programme is helping me become more organised, confident, and effective in my leadership approach.

Through my Level 3 Leadership and Management programme, I have both developed existing skills and gained new ones that support me in my role as Deputy Manager. I have strengthened my communication and teamwork skills, allowing me to work more effectively with colleagues and provide clearer guidance. I have also developed my confidence in decision-making and problem-solving, particularly when supporting staff and ensuring the smooth running of the setting. In addition, I have learned new skills in leadership, such as how to motivate others, manage responsibilities, and reflect on my own practice to continue improving. These skills are helping me grow professionally and become a more effective and supportive leader.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is well organised and easy to follow, with clear workbooks that guide me through each unit and set out what is expected. Alongside this, there is a helpful manual that provides additional information and support, making it easier to understand the content and complete tasks effectively. I also benefit from regular on-site mentor meetings, which give me the opportunity to discuss my progress, ask questions, and receive guidance. This structured support helps me stay on track and feel confident in my learning journey.
