Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I worked as a business analyst in our marketplace - this involved working with lenders, providing them feedback on how their products are doing and trends within the financial services market. We would also have to do analysis for requests lenders would make.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
The programme was varied, work-wise you got to do rotations between different teams and then apprenticeship-wise there were a large range of subjects covered. A lot of these were quite technical if that is what you prefer.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Across the apprenticeship you definitely develop time management and organisation skills. In addition, there is a good variety of technical subjects you cover with QA such as Python or how to manage a project. Python for me wasn't something I was interested in, but you do get exposure to a wide range of technical tools to learn and pick up other valuable knowledge such as what goes into managing a project.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I thought it was excellently structured - to start with I had a whole day of university every week - then this tailored down to a half day every week and then a half day every other week. I think either of the latter two were the best balance to attend classes and cover information but also have time to research and work on assignments. It is a great balance if you enjoy managing your own time.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I was extremely lucky, I always had great support from my managers and team members who gave me support during assignments, whether this was being flexible and giving me extra time or helping me understand a subject area. In addition, we had a dedicated early careers team who were on hand to support if you every had any questions about your apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
It depended on the tutor for the course. For the majority, they were very supportive, however some were hard to get in touch with. They offered a support group for an hour each week so you could always drop in and speak to your tutor directly to get any answers you required. In addition, there was always a draft hand in before assignments so you could get some feedback on part of your assignment where you felt the least confident just before handing in the final exam.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I realised throughout the apprenticeship that what was covered was more technical than what I enjoy doing in my role - therefore as I have worked with the company for a longer period of time, I have moved into less technical roles. There are definitely important skills I did develop during my apprenticeship such as my organisation and also the ability to prioritise tasks.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are plenty of different activities to get involved with. There is an early careers social team, there is a great place to work team which organises quarterly events and there are various different societies you can join.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Experian to a friend?
Yes
Why?
There is a wide range of job opportunities and a friendly atmosphere wherever I have worked across the organisation. In addition, they are very flexible, trusting me to manage my own time during the apprenticeship and always offering extra support should I need it.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Experian?
Be yourself in any interview - the interviewer wants to get to know you as much as your skills - they are trying to see if you are a good fit for the culture of the organisation. Make sure you have questions asked as well to make the interview feel more conversational and it shows you are prepared.
