Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I support the delivery of internal audits across different business and risk areas. My role involves working as part of audit teams to help assess whether key risks are being appropriately managed and controlled, in line with Lloyds Banking Group’s risk appetite and regulatory expectations. The apprenticeship model allows me to rotate across different audit portfolios, giving me broad exposure to the organisation while developing practical audit and risk skills. For my level 4 apprenticeship, I combined on-the-job audit experience with formal professional study delivered through the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and Kaplan.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy the apprenticeship as it gives me meaningful, hands-on experience alongside structured learning, allowing me to apply theory directly to real audit work. The rotations have helped me build a broad understanding of the business while developing strong technical and professional skills. Balancing apprenticeship studies alongisde my day-to-day job can be challenging, but the work experiance has been invaluable.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have strengthened my analytical and critical‑thinking skills by testing controls, reviewing evidence and applying professional scepticism. I have also improved my communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills through participating in walkthroughs, meetings and clearly documenting audit work. In addition, I have built strong organisational and time‑management skills by balancing day‑to‑day audit delivery with formal apprenticeship study, while continuing to develop my understanding of risk, controls and internal audit methodology.
