Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is in Corporate Coverage which involves supporting relationship management for large UK and international corporate clients My role focuses on assisting Relationship Directors (RDs) in managing client relationships, assessing risk, supporting deal execution, and ensuring the Bank meets its regulatory and commercial objectives.
On a day-to-day basis, my responsibilities include: assisting with the ongoing management of a portfolio of corporate clients; supporting credit applications and annual reviews by analysing financial information (e.g. leverage, liquidity, EBITDA, cash flow), drafting commentary, and ensuring proposals align with Lloyds’ risk appetite and internal credit policies; ensuring KYC, AML, and client due diligence requirements are met; liaising with internal teams to support client solutions and ensure smooth end-to-end delivery; producing sector updates, market insights, and company research to support relationship discussions and internal briefings, including preparing PowerPoint slides and written summaries for senior stakeholders.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy the balance between structured learning and practical application which has helped me better understand how theory - particularly around risk management and regulation - translates directly into real banking decisions and client interactions.
Although it's not a Lloyds issue, the third party provider of the apprenticeship often requires rather unnecessary mandatory activities which takes up valuable time that could be better spent on developing technical expertise in the role.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes - I have strengthened my understanding of leverage, EBITDA, cash flow and how these metrics are used in credit decision‑making. I have also developed stronger risk awareness and regulatory understanding, especially around KYC, AML, ESG assessments and the importance of evidencing compliance in a highly regulated environment.
In addition, the programme has helped me improve soft skills such as stakeholder communication, time management and professional confidence, particularly through working with multiple internal teams and contributing to meetings and presentations.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very structured, sometimes a bit too structured at times...
It would be better if this structure was presented more clearly at the beginning of the apprenticeship rather than leaving it to apprentices to understand it themselves.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Thankfully I have not had to get much support from my employer yet, but for the early part of the apprenticeship there wasn't a designated point of contact for us to reach out to. Communciation is also minimal and inconsistent as it doesn't seem (to me at least) that there is a structured apprentice leadership team, with a leader for each apprenticehsip scheme.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
They try to be as present as possible but turnaround time on responses to queries and feedback vary between different individuals.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Although the theoretical knowledge developed during the lecture aspect of the apprenticeship has been beneficial in laying a foundation - it really should've been delivered as a focussed bootcamp early in the apprenticeship rather than spread across many months. But it has been quite useful nonetheless
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes - there are loads. There is also the Next Gen Talent community (consisting of grads, apprentices, IP students, and interns) however, as it is very much community-led which means you can only get as much out of it as the rest of your cohort is willing to contribute.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lloyds Banking Group?
Lloyds is very focussed on its culture so you should demonstrate an alignment with Lloyds’ values.
Becasue you're in an early part of your career you should show your willingness to learn and self‑reflect
