Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role involves providing business and administrative support to teams within the Health and Wellbeing Directorate, to ensure that service needs are met and business levels maintained. This involves undertaking various administrative tasks, responding to enquires - verbally and in writing - and inputting and updating service and customer data.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am really enjoying my apprenticeship programme and am learning so much, both through my day-to-day work in the council and through my learning with Cheshire College South and West. I am a mature apprentice, having decided to change career after many years in education (also with Cheshire West and Chester Council), so an apprenticeship was an ideal route into learning new skills and moving into a different sector. I have been warmly welcomed into a fantastic team and have been well supported by my colleagues, line manager, Apprentice and Inclusive Employment Coordinator and College Assessor. Working for an organisation whose values align with my own was hugely important to me and so an apprenticeship with Cheshire West and Chester Council was the perfect fit. I would highly recommend this organisation and am looking forward to the rest of my apprenticeship journey.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt many new skills as I have come from an entirely different sector. I have also been able to develop existing transferrable skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme has been very well organised and structured both by my employer and Cheshire College South and West.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Everybody here is incredibly supportive and approachable.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Cheshire College South and West has been fantastic. Excellent communication, good quality training, prompt feedback and a really lovely assessor.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel that the educational part of my apprenticeship is really relevant to my day-to-day responsibilities and provides me with the knowledge that underpins what I do in practice.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I was invited to a welcome event within a couple of months of starting my role which gave me the opportunity to meet other new starters and to learn more about Cheshire West and Chester Council. There are social activities which you can get involved with and in my team there are lots of lovely wellbeing activities including wellbeing walks and a regular quiz to participate in.
