Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
As an an apprentice, within my team, I often take meeting minutes, handle correspondence between stakeholders and shadow in client meetings.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy working at CBRE and I feel the programme gives good opportunity to get involved in real estate and begin building your career early on.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I've built my communication and interpersonal skills to a confident level. Currently working on financial modelling and data management skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
There was limited structure when joining my team as they were not expecting a first year apprentice and didn't know which accounts to put me on and so I wasn't able to get truly involved until 2-3 months in. The 4 rotations are also quite unstructured as you need to re-interview every year for a team which means you may end up in seats you don't enjoy with limited flexibility to change due to how competitive it is.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I feel supported in terms of being able to ask for help and guidance.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I feel supported.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Through university I learn a lot of contextual things in depth which can translate into my day to day work as it builds familiarity with certain concepts I've seen in my lectures or learned through study.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are always activities to be getting involved in and we do well in this area.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend CBRE Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is an enjoyable place to work in with a wealth of experienced professionals across several business functions. I believe it to be the best commercial real estate apprenticeship in the market for students currently due to the gains of the programme and opportunities available to you early on in your career and mentorship to grow in your role. However, as you would expect your experience, especially as a first year apprentice, is limited to only the first couple months and is dependent on your team and not representative of the wider business.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CBRE Group?
I would suggest reaching out to people on LinkedIn in careers you or roles you may want to pursue, CBRE employees are really friendly from my experience and are always up for a conversation.
