Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Good mixture of BAU operational work and ad-hoc tasks including developing tooling, engaging with suppliers and upskilling on future technologies.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I've had plenty of opportunities to grow but it is very reliant on self-driven development. You have to be proactive if you want to succeed.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I've learned lots of new skill particularly around cloud services (AWS, GCP etc.), operational management and project management.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
There is a structure but it is poorly communicated (late timetables, little flexibility).
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
If you are in a strong team then your colleagues and line manager are your best support network. The dedicated JLR early careers team are poor at proactively supporting and don't seem to care as much about their apprentices as they should.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
WMG are generally quite disorganised. They are quick to respond and will always try and help but more structure and guidance would be appreciated.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It has definitely laid the foundations for much of the work I do but I think if you were determined enough you could teach yourself those same foundations. I wish they would give options for more focused learning in the later years of the course.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are the standard colleague networks in addition to early careers specific communities. Generally the early careers groups are more catered to graduates although apprentices are invited. Finding the time and energy to get involved is the biggest obstacle.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
Yes
Why?
If you are a motivated person and are willing to take your development into your own hands then you can really get somewhere with JLR. It's an exciting company with a good atmosphere and they treat apprentices just like any colleague which is appreciated.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
Be proactive, don't rely on other people to plan your development for you. If you get stuck in and put yourself out there then you will learn so much more and end up a much better professional.
