Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I spend a lot of time working on my internship project. The project has lasted roughly 9 weeks, from week 1 to the time of my end-of-internship assessment. I have two supervisors to support me throughout and answer my questions and help steer my work in the right direction. I am given the opportunity to meet lots of people in different disciplines and learn a lot about the wider business.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, a lot of the project was completed by myself with guidance from supervisors. My project work will then be used within my team to help develop our understanding of the software we use.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have learnt how to use new industry-specific software that I would otherwise not have access to in my degree. I have learnt a lot about Geophysics and the very niche veins of it that are applied to the oil and gas industry. I have developed my presentation skills and collaboration experience.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
My supervisors in particular were very supportive - always happy to answer my questions and keen to see how I was getting on. I felt it easy to talk to them and express any concerns. I have heard some stories of other interns having a less-than-ideal experience with supervisors, however not me. My buddy helped me a lot with some of the career-based aspects of the placement and gave me insight into life at the company

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Very friendly and very keen to help. Whenever I told someone about my project, they were always very quick to offer their support and advice in order for me to get the best out of my time here

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
Out of all the internships I have heard about, this sounds like the best one. The hours are flexible and reasonable, everyone is understanding and passionate, and the work is pretty interesting.
