Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

The day to day of these roles can fluctuate depending on the position you're in. It's likely you'll have some fixed tasks to give you a routine and then some project like tasks to change up your days. On most days you'll have interactions with traders and originators. Not all projects and responsibilities will be the most exciting, but each comes with an opportunity to learn.
Depending on which role you're given it's possible for you to have interactions with clients whether that's dinners or just via email.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

BP is a great place to work. Everybody's lovely and extremely helpful.
With regards to the roles you get, you don't always get a say which can be a bit of a letdown. They are still good roles, and you can learn a lot from them, but it may not always be exactly what you're hoping for.
But the job is only half the programme. They run courses and then there's chances to interact with colleagues outside of work hours at BP events. I've made a lot of friends here and had a lot of fun at these work socials.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I've learnt and developed a lot over my time at BP. Everything from my personable skills to technical skills. There're chances to improve both through day-to-day tasks and specific courses that will help you enhance your skills. BP is very big on teaching and it's a great place to develop as everyone is willing to help and answer any questions you have.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I believe when I came into the role the scheme was undergoing a change. This has led to my year in particular lacking structure slightly. However, I believe the organisation of the year above and below me looks to have been far better. My year has been a little disappointing with regards to structured learning opportunities however I know changes have been implemented and there is a lot more structured opportunity now.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

BP is fantastic for helping you learn and plan your career path. Even if you don't get the exact roles you want you can still learn everything you'd like. People are so helpful in answering questions and there are a lot of networking opportunities to help further yourself and your career.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I didn't complete a qualification on this scheme, but they've added one in for apprentices that join now. There is a lot of support for learning with access to multiple software's to learn new skills.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

N/A. The qualifications now offered to new school leavers tend to be very relevant to the skills required from these roles.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

BP run a host of socials and extracurricular activities. There are sports teams you can join that include a rugby team and football team. The social activities can be at a range of different places and are always quite fun, we've gone karting before. And there's usually large socials for networking where you can meet a wide range of people within the business.

Why?
It's a great place to work and they definitely wouldn't make a mistake by taking a job here. It's fun and there are great changes to improve yourself. The scheme is made up of different roles and as I said not all of them are amazing, but they do provide you chances to learn a lot about a trading organisation.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to bp?
Just be yourself and remember everyone wants you to succeed.
Show your willingness to learn and your eagerness to be a part of a growing organisation like this and you can't fail.
And don't be afraid to reach out to people at the organisation to get their thoughts on the program.
