Researching and learning fire strategy and informing myself on company standards of procedure.
Assisting in researching and documenting fire safety strategies applied to design, assessing if they cohere to the relevant building standards and/or regulations.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given tasks that stretched my knowledge. I also had the opportunity to work in two department therefore being exposed to more of the business.

A lot of support was given to myself, I had a line manager, buddy, wider support form emerging talent team. Individuals of the EDIN community personally supported and provided guidance in getting the most out of my internship

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Social event were organised to network and learn about colleagues and peers. Everyone is encouraged to be involved in diversity and inclusive initiatives. All employees are encouraged to participate taking a Mace Day, where individuals participate in charity, sustainability or voluntary initiatives.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed working with the team. The specific work and level of work did not meet my expectation. It was considerably a lot less then I had expected and I was required to fill my time with individual research.

What advice would you give to others applying to Mace
In preparing for the first day have your goals set out and know what it is you want to achieve and learn during your time here. As a recent graduate, I had left university with no industry experience, Mace is a company which is diverse and growing in the industry and encourages it employees to map out their career within Mace, so both parties get the best out employment.
