Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Completed two weeks of training and induction, followed by an 8-week project within a team in QSG. There were also frequent talks, networking events and opportunities to get to know the operations of the bank on a broader scale.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was able to work on my project with significant autonomy, and this came with responsibility to use my time effectively. However I was also able to ask for help whenever necessary and I felt that the responsibility given was very suitable for internship level.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Greatly improved coding skills (Python) by applying existing knowledge to a working environment. The internship also allowed me to further develop my soft skills by encouraging me to reach out to as many people as possible.

I was always able to receive the necessary support, especially from my team, but also from other important figures such as HR and my mentor.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Very pleasant culture, everyone willing to give up their time to have a chat with you and let you learn about the bank. People are hard-working but there are many events to let off some steam

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I really felt that I gained a lot from the internship, as I was able to learn much more about the industry, as well as improve many of my hard and soft skills. It was also a pleasure to meet the employees at the bank, who were all very welcoming.
