Prime Brokerage Client Services Representative Review

During my internship with Bank of America’s Global Operations division, I supported the Prime Brokerage Client Services team, focusing on trade lifecycle management and operational risk reduction. My day-to-day responsibilities involved reconciling trades, investigating breaks, validating settlements, and ensuring accurate post-trade processing across multiple systems. I collaborated closely with front-office, settlements, and middle-office teams to resolve discrepancies efficiently while maintaining high data integrity. In addition, I developed Excel-based tracking tools to streamline query management and improve turnaround times. This role required attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective communication under tight deadlines.

Yes, I was responsible for handling specific client queries (can’t disclose client name), as I was assigned clients. I was also given the responsibility to build workflow automations using Alteryx for my team, and once the results were noticed, the futures and options team. This resulted in 40 hours per week saved for the futures and options team on mundane repetitive reporting tasks.

I polished my data analytics skills, and also learnt a lot about prime brokerage and its role in an investment bank.

I was assigned a mentor and a buddy, each with varying experience which was great as I could target my questions at people most relevant to my situation. I was also helped by neighbouring teams with things such as data analytics.

Company culture was great, they encourage their values and everybody is hard working, but still supportive.

I enjoyed my internship thoroughly and it really helped me develop my industry skills and network
