Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My job role involves retrieving and analysing diagnostic data from test vehicles. Day-to-day, my job involves attending meetings to present and review my findings and working together with a range of teams to further develop my work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my apprenticeship programme because it provides me a large range of opportunities to gain experience in the workplace and allows me to learn and study at a strong university. I enjoy work because I am able to see myself improve as I develop a range of new skills. There are a large number of support networks available both within my team and the company as a whole, so I can always receive any help I require.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Through a range of activities and work tasks, I have greatly developed my skills and learned new ones. I have gained experience in a variety of technical skills ranging from database querying to 3d modelling which allow me to analyse and visualise data with greater efficiency and clarity. I have also developed my communication and presentation skills through regular discussions and presenting my work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is very well structured. We have scheduled university lecture days which are blocked together so that they do not interfere with work and a study day on every non university week. This allows us to clearly separate university and work. Aside from this, the apprenticeship focuses around working in our home teams, while undertaking placements that help develop skills and knowledge of relevant areas, to support us in our home teams. I believe that having this structure helps us develop as well rounded engineers with our own areas of expertise and the freedom of choice of placements within your domain, allows us to learn and gain experience surrounding what we are interested in.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive lots of support from my employer through both the company as a whole, offering many benefits and support towards personal development, and the early careers team which provides me with many opportunities to learn new things, experience university life and lend an ear if anyone needs to talk.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The university of Warwick has provided much support towards my qualifications. They provide in depth lectures that describe topics in an engineering context to aid our understanding. There are also a range of helpful activities and courses available to improve our work, such as report writing Q&As. On some of our study days the university has provided shorter summary lectures. The university tutor and lecturers have been very helpful and available to answer any questions that might arise.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My Degree work so far has already helped me perform better in my role by allowing me to understand different industry standards and the reasoning behind management decisions. Different aspects of my mechanics and mathematics learning have also been relevant in my work. I believe that future learning at university will further aid me in my work by providing me with background knowledge behind why we make certain decisions in our work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are a variety of events and activities that can be joined at work. We can join events ranging from outreach to balls and get involved in different activities such as hiking, board games and skiing trips.
