Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
In my role as a claims professional at Aon, I am responsible for managing clients’ claims from first notification through to final settlement, ensuring a fair and timely outcome in line with policy terms. On a day-to-day basis, I liaise with clients to gather information, explain coverage, and keep them updated on progress, while also working closely with insurers, loss adjusters, and other experts to present and negotiate claims. I maintain accurate records on internal systems, monitor reserves and payments, and support reporting by analysing claims data and identifying trends. Through this, I help clients navigate the claims process, protect their financial position, and contribute to improving their overall risk management.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have continued to develop a range of technical and soft skills in my claims role. Technically, I’ve deepened my understanding of policy wordings, coverage interpretation, and the end-to-end claims process, as well as improving my ability to review reports and supporting documentation critically. I have also strengthened my communication and negotiation skills by regularly liaising with clients, insurers, and loss adjusters, often in time-sensitive or challenging situations. In addition, I have improved my organisational skills through managing multiple claims simultaneously, prioritising workloads, and maintaining accurate records and data for reporting and analysis. Overall, these developments have helped me handle claims more efficiently and provide a better service to clients.
