Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Throughout my apprenticeship I will do rotations in different areas of the supply chain. In my current role as an international distribution coordinator I manage stock and distribute it all of the world to help supply to patients.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I find this programme extremely beneficial. I am able to gain experience and truly understand different roles across the supply chain alongside learning the theory behind supply chains at university. Being able to get the experience of physically doing the job also helps me to build connections and exposes me to real business problems which can occur and help me learn skills to overcome them which will enable me to draw on these experiences when trying to secure a full time position.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt various skills so far which are key to the roles I do such as the use of SAP (our production environment) as well as developing other key skills such as time management, communication to stakeholders and decision making.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

There is a structured plan to my apprenticeship which shows what teams I will be in and a rough timeline of when I will be moving into those teams. Additionally, Aston University releases a schedule of when we will have online lectures and when we will be attending university in person, however, this is only released for one year ahead.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

AstraZeneca support with any problems I encounter. If I need extra time to put towards studying they are willing to work flexibly with me to ensure I do not fall behind.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The lecturers at Aston University are always available to email any questions and are often happy to put extra time in privately with me if I need extra support with a section of the course content.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Often the content taught at university transfers into the work I do, for example AI in supply chains is a key topic currently and helped me to understand how we use it currently at AstraZeneca and potential opportunities which could be used to make my work more efficient.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are various opportunities to get involved with outside of work, such as netball, social drinks and networking lunches.
