Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
On a daily basis, I responded to employee queries related to travel, expense and system issues across the tools we use. I also supported the administration of corporate credit cards, including processing applications, maintaining traveller profiles, and assisting with card and payment queries.
I regularly audited expense reports to ensure claims were accurate, compliant, and supported by the correct documentation. Where required, I returned claims with clear guidance to help employees understand and correct issues.
Additionally, I supported starter, mover and leaver processes related to travel access, worked with our supplier partners, and provided timely, professional customer support to employees across the EMEA region.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I have also developed my communication and customer service skills by regularly supporting employees across the EMEA region, responding to questions in a professional and clear manner. Auditing expense reports has strengthened my analytical skills and ability to assess information accurately against policy.
In addition, I have improved my organisational and time-management skills by handling multiple tasks and priorities, working to deadlines, and managing a high volume of queries. Overall, the programme has helped me build confidence, professionalism, and practical workplace skills that I continue to use in my role.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?
The programme provided clear expectations and a consistent structure, which made it easy to manage my workload alongside my studies. Support from my manager and the wider team also helped ensure I stayed on track and progressed well throughout the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
I was given the flexibility and understanding needed to balance my day‑to‑day responsibilities with my college coursework, ensuring I could meet both work and learning requirements. Regular check‑ins, feedback, and encouragement helped me stay on track with the programme and feel supported throughout my development. Overall, the support from Cummins played a key role in making my apprenticeship a positive and successful experience.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
However, there were times when support could have been more proactive or consistent, particularly around check‑ins and communication. While the support was helpful when accessed, more regular engagement and clearer guidance at certain stages would have further enhanced the experience. Overall, the support met expectations but there is some room for improvement.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
Some elements of the qualification were more general in nature, but overall it helped me better understand working practices, responsibilities, and expectations in a professional environment. The combination of the qualification and hands‑on experience allowed me to build confidence and perform my role more effectively over time.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
However, this group later stopped, and after that there were few opportunities specifically aimed at apprentices outside of day‑to‑day work. While the activity that did exist was useful, overall opportunities for extra‑curricular involvement were limited, and greater consistency or visibility of networking and development activities would have improved the experience.
