Spring Intern Review

Involved in a series of different activities and talks. Hearing from the businesses as a part of the CIB group of HSBC. Heard from security services, global payment systems, investment banking, relationship management, high infrastructure finance, sales and trading. Within each of these, there were a series of talks from people working in these divisions, ranging from analysts all the way to managing directors. Each section also gave us a series of tasks, including a dragons den style pitch in global payments systems and a real life version of a trading simulation.

It was very easy and enjoyable to understand. HSBC structured the program very well and in such a way it was extremely simple to understand the different sectors within the business.

I learnt new skills, particularly when it comes to understanding news and learning to make adjustments to my thinking. I learnt about the different businesses, some of which I didn't realise existed or that were a part of the business.

The overall culture was excellent, with it being heavily talked about how everyone was approachable, irrespective as to whether they were an analyst or senior MD.

I enjoyed the whole experience a lot. The structure of the program was excellent, with breaks set up at the right time to make sure that too much information was ever consumed in one go.

Be yourself, apply early, when doing camera interviews, try and be genuine and authentic and talk like you had an interviewer in front of you.
