Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My job role involves my support of care for the children through learning and development of young children in a safe and welcoming environment.I work with a friendly qualified team who help me ensure the children’s daily needs are met while encouraging them to play with activities.On my day to day basis my responsibilities include assisting with routines such as welcoming the children, helping with meals and snack's,nap time,and hygiene practice like for example washing hands and tidying up.I also help support with activities that promote there next steps and there interests in what they enjoy.
A key part of my role is bringing positive attitude and relationships with the children.This includes making them feel welcome and safe.
Also,I keep the nursery clean and support a safe environment for the staff and the children including following the safe guarding policies ensuring that health and safety measures are always met.I also speak to the parents calm and politely in also a professional way.
When being an apprentice I’m also learning everyday new things that I need to learn about the nursery or about the children’s development.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my level 2 apprenticeship a lot because I like working with the children and gaining pratical experience as this helps me with my confidence and develop new skills.

Yes I have learnt a lot of new skills and developed more on skills I knew before as learning from qualified staff and my trainers.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is very organised and structured.I have a clear routine at the nursery and know what it is expected on a day to day basis.The coursework is laid out structured and clearly easy enough for me to understand and what can be challenging and where I can go for help.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a good level of support from my employer.The staff are kind and helpful and are willing to help and guide me when needed,and I can ask questions if I am unsure about anything.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider is a welcoming team that definitely supports with me and are willing to help me with questions and conserns.They help me with my skills and support me anytime.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualifications will support and help me perform better in my role to a good extent.This will give me a clear understanding in child development and safeguarding procedures and how to support the children.

The team are helpful and approachable, and there are good opportunities to learn and develop new skills. It’s also a rewarding place to work, as you get to support children’s learning and see their progress.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to The Old Station Nursery?
I would recommend being confident in asking questions and taking feedback, as this will help you improve your skills. Finally, having good time management is important so you can balance your work and coursework effectively.
