Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am really enjoying my apprenticeship, I work in the baby room and follow a routine every day, everyday we ensure we have time out in the garden, we change their nappies, we serve their breakfast, snack, lunch, snack and tea. We follow their needs of their sleep, we do fun activities everyday like painting or messy play with water and bubbles. If it is nice weather we go on walks with the pushchairs, we do snapshots and learning journeys for our key children.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am really enjoying my apprenticeship, I get lots of support when I need it and I am finding the course and tasks very interesting.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt a lot about babies and other age groups that I didn't know before, I learnt that babies under 6 months only see black and white which is why we have a black and white area in our room to develop their sight. I learnt how to make babies bottles of milk, as well as how to correctly put babies to sleep safely.

I receive a lot of support when needed, I feel comfortable to ask for support if I am unsure on what to do.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My tutor is very supportive, If I have any questions or need some support with a task, she helps me and gives me advice to complete it and sends me things to support me even further.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I have learnt so much already whilst doing my apprenticeship, I feel much more confident in my role and I am looking forward to keep on learning with my tutor.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We do lots of events for parents, we do stay and plays where parents can come in for an hour to join in with activities, we did afternoon tea for mothers day for parents to come in and have snacks with their children to celebrate mothers day, we have football and rugby come in to teach and play with the older age groups.

I am very happy with my apprenticeship and the support I receive, I feel confident and comfortable doing the tasks for my apprenticeship and so happy with the team.
