I work as an Order Management Apprentice within the Business Operations team at Softcat, based in Marlow. My role focuses on supporting the end‑to‑end order journey, ensuring customer orders are processed accurately, delivered on time, and communicated effectively to all stakeholders.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship programme. It provides a strong balance between practical, hands‑on experience in my day‑to‑day role and structured learning that helps me understand the wider business context. I find it particularly rewarding being able to apply what I learn directly into my work, which has helped build my confidence, skills, and understanding of how different teams work together.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I have developed existing skills and learnt new ones during my programme. I’ve improved my communication, organisation, and problem‑solving skills through managing orders and working with different stakeholders, while also gaining new skills in time management, attention to detail, and understanding business processes.

My programme is very organised with monthly calls placed in advance and effective lines of communication that are put in place.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My Employer is very supportive , always offering many different groups to join for health and wellbeing as well as a great community to work within, in which I feel comfortable and confident to reach out for help if I ever needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provided is very supportive with a monthly check in and then monthly group live session in which I have more then enough time to raise any issue I am facing at hand. I am also capable of emailing them whenever needed instead of waiting for the monthly call.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel like what I have learnt through my provider is easily applicable to the tasks I deal with daily. Learning has definitely built my confidence and social skills within the working environment.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes I took part in an College day which I went to a local college to talk about my experience of being in an apprenticeship at Softcat so far. They also offer 2 volunteering days every year for everyone.

Why?
Softcat is a great place to work which values the people over anything else. They have a great working environment with activities always popping out of no where for great causes.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Softcat?
Some tips i would give would be ' just be yourself' Softcat is a safe space in which you can relax and enjoy coming to work in an environment you will always be supported in.
