Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Supporting the business teams I work with - helping them with adjustments needed in PowerPoint presentations and working on valuation topics in excel (more numerical/accounting related topics)

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I think I could have been giving a bit more responsibility. Due to the pooling staffing system and not entirely working with one/two teams but instead working with multiple teams at a time it was only a limited role that I took on in every project I assisted on

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Yes! I have learnt how to carry out a DCF, and many other financial topics related to how to approach valuing a company . I have also improved my excel and powerpoint skills as well as my soft skillls - how to engage with people in the workplace and work together in teams as well as the importance of clear and consistent communication

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received so much support from all my peers and the many people within the bank that were assigned to look after us (e.g. buddy, Mentor, Development Officer). The culture at BofA is truly brilliant and everyone was super approachable - you felt like you could go up to anyone to ask a question and they would always be happy to help out

Really great! The culture at BofA is so welcoming - everyone is genuinely really kind and eager to support you along your journey

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

Really enjoyed meeting all the interesting people I met and learnt a lot about myself in this experience as well as built on my finance skills.
I would say the pooling/staffing system and managing all the dynamics between the teams was at times very stressful. it felt like I could not only focus on my work but also had to think about the "strategic" and at times "political" aspect of the internship
