Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Throughout my apprenticeship I will be moving around multiple different 1st line service desks, and 2nd line teams. At the moment, I have experienced two very different service desks. On an average day, I answer phone calls and help users from different companies with certain wifi issues.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am really enjoying my programme and my job role.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes! My customer service skills have massively improved through speaking to customers on the phone. My technical skills have also improved as I didn't come from a very technical background. I am now very capable at troubleshooting different network and IT issues.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very good. We are given course work to complete every month, including informative videos, virtual classrooms, 121 training calls, and quizzes.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Lots. My manager is very supportive both with my apprenticeship programme and my job role. She always works around my needs to make sure I have enough time to complete all of my work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have monthly 121 training sessions with my coach and also a monthly virtual classroom. Also, if I require any further help, my coach is always happy to help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
A lot of the work I do for the qualification is reflected into the work I do in my role. It has definitely helped me with certain aspects of my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, I have had social activities with the teams I have worked for and with the other apprentices. Myself and the other apprentices also ran an office bring your child to work day last week. Also, myself and the other apprentices recently went to Manchester for an event with other apprentices and graduates from across the north of England and Northern Ireland.

Yes
Why?
I believe it is a very good company to work for. There seems to be good career progression beyond my apprenticeship. All of the managers are really good and really helpful.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
Do some research on BT before applying. Understanding the values goes a long way.
