Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role consists of learning, developing and managing the scheduling, resourcing, and performance of project plans for operations. This involves driving Production Operations by monitoring, reporting, and challenging performance and driving corrective recovery actions when behind schedule.
My day-to-day activities involves supporting Production (and other departments) in undertaking their operations as efficiently and effectively as possible, by providing them with beneficial information to achieve the project's milestones.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I've learnt many new skills that weren't listed in the job description and developed as a person both professionally and personally, because of this I can say that I do enjoy my programme. It has definitely changed since Navantia UK have taken over and I would say for the better (especially the apprentice programme).

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes. I would say the top skill that I've expanded on has definitely been communication. You can't always choose who you get to work with and therefore it is important to be able to communicate effectively at all times as there are many different types of people out there. In addition to this, adaptability is a must. In an industry/department where changes are consistent, you must be able to make quick and sure decisions at short notice. And stand by them.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It could always do with improvement (everything can). But I would say that the whole programme, coursework, college side, is good. But, I think that they could improve on their future planning/options for apprentices from a career point of view. And a clearer pay scheme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
The support is there, you just have to find it. This is great if you're pro-active. However, not everyone is and therefore some may not feel supported at times. This is definitely set to improve and I have noticed major positive changes already, which is impressive considering this company has only been here for a year.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Like my employer: the support is there, you just have to find it. However I have found that North Devon College (Exeter) has been helpful with providing support (mostly for future career plans).
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Now that Exeter has merged with previously Petroc, I think that the training has been very informative and interesting and is set to improve with more funding provided.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Me personally, I choose not to take part in these events. However, for those who would like to see their colleagues outside of work there are many opportunities that are set up by people in the office.
