Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am constantly interacting with others, both in person in the office with colleagues and clients, and online via email. I manage a high volume of correspondence, help build and maintain key relationships, and create important and often confidential documents and spreadsheets. I handle detailed information from clients to structure and provide the insurance cover they require. I also negotiate with both clients and reinsurers to secure the best possible outcomes for the client, while maintaining strong, professional relationships and ensuring reinsurers are not offended.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Very friendly and enjoyable

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
So many new skills - I have never worked in insurance before. new computer skills, communication and relationship management skills, numerical skills having a wide range of different skills within the broader terms mentioned.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well organised. Have a clear timeline of where I'm going to be throughout my apprenticeship and regular calls and individual check ups to make sure I meet goals and am on target. With lots of calls and activities organised to attend throughout the scheme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Lots, am always checked up on. I know exactly who to go to with all queries and there is lots of calls and meetings that are arranged if help is needed with a particular area.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I can ask any questions and they are always answered within the day or am referred who to go to if they are unable to reply.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Everything I have revised I am noticing crops up in my job role. Helps me understand what I am doing more because I have learnt and read about it. Learn about the way the outer insurance industry works and how my role links into it.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I know exactly where to go if I am interested in joining a club and lots of things are promoted throughout the year for us to get involved in.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Aon to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Great support, am pushed to achieve career goals but there's not too much pressure that it's off putting it's more motivating. So many opportunities are open to me and I have met so many new people who are really friendly and are happy to help and talk to me whenever.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aon?
Be prepared and friendly. If you can hold a conversation with people and come across inquisitive you will be preferred over someone who can't.
