Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I arrive at work and clock in. I complete any apprentice applicable roles on my placement I am at and also sit in on meetings and watch the team members carry out tasks to learn from them. I then have a 1 day university release day where I go to university instead of work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I am definitely learning a lot and this is setting me up very well for when I will eventually work in the industry as a professional. Working at BAE is giving me plenty of opportunity to have a placement in different areas within aerospace engineering.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I am developing my people and communication skills along with problem solving and the appropriate way to conduct oneself in the workplace. I am also learning technical skills with different software that I have never encountered before but will be used regularly at work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
They have recently changed the program again, so there are some logistical issues and other things that are being changed and we are sort of a "test" cohort to see how it goes. Which isn't the best but it will be better for later cohorts.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
They have been really supportive, especially with helping with university work especially when I was struggling with one of the modules.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
They are supportive and will try to help to the best of their ability and knowledge.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
As I am very early on in my apprenticeship and only on my first placement it is hard to tell but seems good so far yes.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
I'm not to sure.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Great way to earn a qualification and work experience at a renowned company.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Just be yourself and show who you are as an individual in an interview. Not what you think they want to hear or see from you. They don't want copies of one another, they want individuals with their own traits and unique experience and skills.
