Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I lead a squad of eight people and am responsible for delivering software improvements and security requirements for EETV applications
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
It's a dream job in that it is interesting, challenging and fun, as well as rewarding

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have been working for a number of years and was aware of a lot of the methodologies and processes that were covered within the training, but still found new things that I wasn't aware of before. The internal MDP training that enabled my particpation in this apprenticeship also helped improve my background knowledge of the topics covered.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The training and learning is excellent. The only complaint I have is that as the final few courses approach, the workshops used to support them are after their due-by date, although I am currently working with Babington to get this corrected.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
BT has been excellent from start to finish with regards to time and resources
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Babington run regular check-in calls and my trainer is always available and answers any questions through the messaging system. If I had a complain, it would be that there is almost too much contact, but better that than too little.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It's an external accreditation that cements and demonstrates the practical qualities that I have
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
BT has a number of extra-curricular activities and clubs that people can join from both a physical and intellectual basis. I'm not a member of any though, as I live 45 minutes away from Ipswich and habve my own friend and community networks.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BT Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's a great organisation that treats individuals well and has strong moral and ethical values. There is a wide variety of technical work and has a strong community presence with clear values.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
Think carefully about what you enjoy and the areas of work that interest you - being great in any area of business usually comes down to having a passion, as that really helps to motivate you in achieving your best. Don't be afraid to try things and think about why you want to do the job and think about all the great things you can bring to the role to demonstrate why you would make a great candidate for selection.
