Overview of the Role
Overall, how would you describe your experience at BT Group?
I had a great experience at BT Group. I had the opportunity to gather lots of great experience, interact with some brilliant people, including graduates from many other sectors of the business (including EE, BT and Openreach) and contribute towards some great projects.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
My graduate scheme was made up of three 8-month placements. My first placement was in the Reporting and Insights department, within the Voice of the Customer team. My second placement was in the Technology and Analytics department, within the Proactive Services team working on EE's pioneering Digital IVR. And the third, final and favourite placement was in Business Design, within the Mobile team working as a Business Analyst on the future of Mobile at EE. At the end of my graduate scheme, I was fortunate to secure a permanent role as a Business Analysis Professional within Business Design. It was in this final placement that I felt I was able to contribute the most, by using the knowledge, skills and behaviours I gathered in the first two placements, as well as my previous operational experience as a Technical Help Advisor at BT.

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

I was given a pay rise in each of the two yearly pay reviews that I had in the two years that made up my graduate scheme. I started the graduate scheme at £30,600 and finished it at £32,600. Additionally, I was given a yearly bonus. In my first year it was around £1,500 and in the second year it was £2,500. I was also part of a pension scheme where BT Group contributed 10% of my monthly salary towards my pension every month.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

The role was brilliant at preparing me for my future career as a Business Analyst. I was able to build a good depth and breadth of experience throughout my 3 graduate placements.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

From analytical to stakeholder management skills, I was continuously out of my comfort zone developing new and existing skills throughout both training and my day-to-day role.

Overall it is a great place to work where you are well supported and are given the opportunity to grow as a professional. There is also great flexibility to accommodate a good work-life balance.
