Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is to receive direction from the Project Manager in helping to coordinate elements within the project. Some days I take on a more reporting role and I communicate with stakeholders about project updates and statuses. Other days I do a more finance based role where I look at forecasts for the billing of the project.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme as I am studying to get my degree whilst also feeling the responsibility of a corporate role which is giving me the best of both worlds.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt Microsoft Excel skills and overall become more advanced in other Microsoft applications such as PowerPoint. I have also improved multiple soft skills such as confidence, public speaking and teamwork.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is well structured, I feel I had a valuable induction period and then I was supported throughout the beginning. The support has also continued throughout my programme even as I become more confident in my role.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support 2from my employer. I have regular check-ins with my line manager as well as the early careers team.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive support through calls that take place every 3 months, I can also reach out if any support or guidance in necessary.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel it helps me understand project terminology and also the 'why' when doing certain tasks.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes there are lots of early careers events where we can meet other apprentices and placement students.

It is a supportive place to work and the company really values your events even when you are in a junior role. I would recommend it as a way to get into the industry.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Computacenter?
Be yourself and show your willingness to learn. Also, do your research and understand the company values and goals as I feel its important to align with a company's values when working for them.
