Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

My role included:
-Intern hiring for 2026/2027 cohort: I owned the entire recruitment process, which included organizing the Showcase days.
-New Hire Onboarding Sessions: I conducted onboarding sessions for new hires throughout Europe.
-Travelport CSR: I helped in organizing CSR activities through initiatives such as Care Days and planning my own CSR activities with the other interns.
-Emerging Talent Academy: I facilitated the organization of development sessions for my intern cohort in the UK and Guadalajara, Mexico.
-Intern’preneurship Programme: We were set tasks set by the intern panel to work on real business topics.
-Research: I researched into topics relevant to TA, such as alternatives to HireVue and other assessment tools for the recruitment process.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given lots of responsibility, as I owned the whole recruitment process for the next intern cohort. I published our roles, went through CVs and interviews, chose the final candidates and ran 3 assessment centers by myself. This level of responsibility was great, as it really helped me to develop my skills.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I developed skills personally and professionally, especially confidence and communication.
Professionally, I developed communication, multi-tasking and time management skills, along with working to deadlines and under pressure. I also developed role-specific skills in Talent Acquisition, such as employer branding.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received lots of support and guidance, from my manager and also my mentor. Despite my manager being based in Guadalajara, she would always help me when needed. Having a mentor was also great as I had somebody, who was separate to my role, to reach out to.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture is very fun and exciting. There are often events occurring in the office, which is good. The employees here are lovely and care about the interns.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I enjoyed my placement much more than expected. I was unsure if I would enjoy recruitment, but the role and its tasks were really fulfilling. It was also fun to have other interns in my cohort, as we all were in the same boat.
