Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I manage the maintenance and compliance of our main offices and assist with requests from projects. I speak with staff and contractors everyday to ensure smooth running of buildings across Murphys.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme as it give me an opportunity to learn as well as working. You learn a great amount from your role, especially as all staff are welcoming and helpful, they want you to succeed and they provide the correct information and pathway to help you progress.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

At Murphy we have access to either online courses or in person course, which benefits me a lot as I can develop my knowledge even further. I can ask for meetings with staff to also deepen my knowledge, everyone is willing to help. I have learnt so many new things not only within Murphy but also about Health and safety and all the legislation. Due to dealing with contractors you also pick up knowledge within the plumbing industry or electrical industry.

My programme has a clear pathway or what I need to do, what I will get from the end of it and what I can then do to help build my knowledge and progress. My college tutor and line manager help in this.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from Murphy not only with my team and line manager, but also from the all staff too.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My college tutor helps a lot, she sets me up a clear pathway, explains all my works and also advised what she things would be best course to complete after my current course. Any questions I may have she never fails to answer and always help me.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

This provided me with structure and knowledge which helps me in my role. I know what I am doing day to day, I know more knowledge within my role based of my course work and I also know where the find the knowledge If I feel I need to learn more on something.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

At Murphy we have many events going on all the time, we have walk and talks, weekly, monthly catch ups, whole business teams meeting for updates, networking events, dinners, team catch up, a day where you get out the office with your team, there are also many more.

Why?
I would recommend as the business truly cares about the progression and succession of their employees. It does feel liek a family and they provide everting they can to help you for the future.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to J. Murphy & Sons Limited?
I would probably say show you care, show you want to learn, show the work ethic you have but also be yourself.
