Events Marketing Intern Review

As an events marketing intern, I was involved in the organisation and execution of industry and customer events around the world. This would involve logistics such as ordering show services and shipping, raising event expenses and budget tracking, creating branded emails and registration forms, briefing the brand team on collateral needs, and conducting and analysing post-event feedback.

I was given a lot of responsibility during this placement, which was great. I had the opportunity to take the lead on various tasks such as creating emails, ordering event giveaway items and show services, managing and processing invoices/contracts and much more.

I have definitely improved my Excel skills, as well as my analytical skills when it came to post-event feedback. I also learnt how to use industry-standard software such as HubSpot, Qualtrics and Cvent. I loved learning about the events process, as well as various aspects of marketing at a global travel tech company. Furthermore, I also learnt a lot about the financial side of marketing and had the opportunity to redesign a webpage for the product and tech team.

I received a lot of support and guidance from the previous events marketing intern as well as my manager. Whenever I wanted to take on more tasks or gain experience in new areas, my manager was great at assigning me tasks that match my learning goals.

The company culture is great. Everyone is very friendly, sociable and helpful. I also enjoyed the flexibility of hybrid working.

I definitely enjoyed my placement and learned a lot of skills that I can transfer to my future career. I have also enjoyed learning about the company itself, and the various opportunities beyond my role (e.g. reforming the companywide CSR strategy with a team of interns).
