Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My current role is to support solicitors on my team and assist them with tasks, whilst they also train me to be a solicitor. On a day-to-day basis I review files, draft legal documents, speak to clients, draft witness statements. I overall, feel very supported in my role by my team and by Bond Turner as a firm.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my programme. I enjoy coming into work to assist on a variety of tasks and to be trained, each day is different and allows me to be exposed to different situations in the legal industry and how to deal with them, and what work needs to be undertaken. I also enjoy my university course learning a variety of different areas of law.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

From the start of my apprenticeship I have learnt many new skills such as drafting legal documents which are necessary for my role. I have been involved in drafting each document that is necessary for a clinical negligence solicitor, and the team have ensured that I am aware of each document , know it's importance and have had guidance on how they are best drafted. I have been able to draft documents on multiple occasions to ensure that I have a good, and deep understanding on each one. I have had so much support when learning these new skills from my colleagues. Throughout my new skills being developed, the firm have ensured to develop my existing skills such as my communication skills in how to communicate correctly to clients or to other legal representatives in advocating for our clients. I have also grown massively in confidence in learning these new and developing my skills by having a lot of support around me to nurture me in my future career as a solicitor.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is very well structured and organised. I have the same study day each week to provide consistency to my learning, and I know that my workplace is allocating me time for my studies. My line manager keeps track of all of my progress, exam results and any training that I undertake. I know that my line manager has a folder for me to keep track of my progress.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my employer. I am able to talk to my manager if I have any concerns at any time and also my line manager if I have any problems or situations that I would like to discuss. All of my team and people who support me during my apprenticeship are very approachable and are always there to support me. I know that I can ask any member of the team for any assistance in training and I will be supported, listened to and guided.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot of support from my training provider. I know where to submit a query form, which is replied to in a timely manner. I have my coach's contact details and I can contact her at any time with any concerns queries and she will get back to me as soon as possible and is always very helpful and supportive. I also know where to contact if I have any safeguarding concerns, and this is made clear throughout any meetings that I have with BPP and it is well signposted throughout the hub.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification helps me to perform better in my role because it is teaching me transferable skills such as case law application, legal drafting and case analysis skills as well as legal knowledge for my practice in clinical negligence that I can bring into my practice. My qualification is teaching me the key skills to be a good solicitor and my workplace allows me to put these skills into action to progress and develop them further.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are many extra-curricular activities to get involved in such as extra training that are held as lunches and learns with counsel and experts, extra training with our training principal, and there are opportunities at attend external training, which is a good way to network with other legal professionals. We are also encouraged to attend professional networking events held by the junior lawyers division.

Why?
I would recommend Bond Turner to a friend because as it is a workplace where you are able to develop and thrive. There is so much support around you and members of staff who are willing to nurture you in your career in law. From my experience, I have developed so much since starting my apprenticeship. I have not only developed in my legal skills, but also in my confidence in myself and in my work. Bond Turner is a fantastic company to train with.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bond Turner Solicitors?
I would advise people who are applying to bond turner to be confident in your application and showcase all of your best abilities that present you as an asset in bond turner.
