Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am a Level 4 Project Manager Apprentice at Experian, responsible for supporting and managing global projects on a day‑to‑day basis. My role involves planning and coordinating project activities, managing timelines, and working closely with stakeholders to ensure projects progress in line with agreed objectives.
On a daily basis, I manage project documentation, maintain plans and trackers, support and attend meetings, capture actions, and monitor risks and dependencies. I regularly communicate with stakeholders across different teams and regions, providing updates and supporting collaboration to keep projects moving forward.
I apply project management tools and techniques learned through my apprenticeship while continuing to develop my skills in organisation, communication, stakeholder management, and working within a global environment.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my programme to a large extent. It provides a good balance between practical, on‑the‑job experience and structured learning, which helps me apply theory directly to my role. While it can be challenging at times, it has supported my development and increased my confidence in project management.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, I have developed existing skills and learned new ones through my programme. I have strengthened my organisation and planning skills, particularly in managing project timelines, actions, and documentation. I have also developed my communication and stakeholder management skills, as I regularly work with colleagues across different teams and regions.
Through my role, I have gained greater confidence in running meetings, tracking risks and dependencies, and providing clear updates to stakeholders. I have also developed my negotiation skills, particularly when working with suppliers and internal stakeholders to align expectations, agree priorities, and support decision‑making.
In addition, I have improved my ability to prioritise tasks, manage competing deadlines, and adapt to change within a project environment. The programme has helped me apply project management tools and techniques in a practical setting while continuing to build my professional confidence and capability

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is well organised and structured, with clear learning objectives and a defined framework that supports my development alongside my role. The combination of formal learning, on‑the‑job experience, and regular reviews helps ensure progress is monitored and aligned to the apprenticeship requirements.
I receive good support from my line manager, colleagues, and the early careers team, which helps me balance work responsibilities with learning commitments. Regular check‑ins and guidance ensure I understand expectations and have opportunities to raise questions or seek support when needed.
Overall, the structure of the programme provides a clear pathway for development, while the support in place enables me to apply learning effectively in a practical, real‑world environment.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a good level of support from my employer throughout my programme. My line manager, colleagues, and early careers team are approachable and provide guidance when needed, particularly around project priorities, development opportunities, and applying learning in a practical setting.
I am given the time and flexibility to complete my apprenticeship requirements alongside my role, and I feel supported in balancing work responsibilities with learning. I also receive encouragement to develop my skills and take on responsibility, while knowing support is available when required.
Overall, the support from my employer has helped me progress confidently through the programme and apply my learning effectively in my day‑to‑day role.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I receive a good level of support from my training provider while working towards my qualification. They provide clear guidance on programme requirements, coursework, and assessments, which helps me understand what is expected and stay on track.
Regular check‑ins and feedback sessions give me the opportunity to ask questions, reflect on my progress, and address any challenges. The training materials and resources provided support my learning and help me apply theory to my role in a practical way.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I feel that my qualification helps me perform better in my role to an extent. The learning provided through my training provider gives me a strong foundation in project management principles, which I am able to apply directly to my day‑to‑day work.
The programme has helped me better understand areas such as planning, stakeholder management, risk management, and governance, which has improved how I approach and manage projects. It has also increased my confidence in using project management tools and techniques, supporting more structured and consistent ways of working.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there are opportunities to get involved in extra‑curricular activities at work. Within Procurement, there are volunteering initiatives, which are sometimes organised at a team level, as well as regular team social events that help build relationships and encourage collaboration outside of day‑to‑day work.
I am also involved in the Early Careers network, which has been particularly valuable in helping me connect with other apprentices and graduates across the business. This includes networking opportunities and social events, which support both professional development and peer connection.
While my training provider delivers learning fully online and does not offer extra‑curricular or networking activities, the opportunities provided through my employer and early careers community help create a well‑rounded and engaging experience.

I would recommend being open‑minded and proactive when applying to Experian. Showing a willingness to learn, take ownership, and engage with different teams can make a big difference, particularly in a fast‑paced and collaborative environment.
It’s also helpful to be confident in asking questions and seeking opportunities, as there is a strong culture of support and learning, especially for early‑career roles. Getting involved in networks, volunteering initiatives, and team activities can help you build connections and gain wider exposure across the business.
