Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Running outdoor pursuit sessions alongside training and development. These sessions could be for either individual customers on public sessions or privately booked school/ youth groups.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

An incredibly enjoyable experience with good balance between training/ personal development and running sessions gaining valuable industry experience.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Gained personal competency in various activities as well as gaining industry qualifications.
Developing skills such as group management and communication skills as well asw life skills such as first aid training.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Clear management structure ensuring you always new who to contact if there was anything you were unsure on.
The Diary was programmed two months in advance and all training dates provided at the start of the apprenticeship allowing apprentices to plan ahead,.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Super supportive employer both for management and from the culture through other instructors.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

South Devon college sent staff up to Mendip activity centre to run through all of the paperwork and qualification side of things as well as looking at instructor craft and various learning styles ensuring we were able to effectively communicate and instruct to a wide range of groups.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The above mentioned skills that were taught to us in both the classroom environment and through post session reflection and feedback defiantly help me perform better in my role as an outdoor pursuits instructor. This is especially true through the activities such as skiing where we work on skill development over multiple sessions.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

An amazing culture where people are always doing things on days off such as hiking, biking paddling and loads more, people are super friendly and inviting.
Staff day out twice a year and opportunity to work alongside partner organisations such as SUP Bristol.
