Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am an HR Apprentice within the People & Places function, where I support a range of initiatives across culture, leadership and the colleague experience. My role is varied and combines both operational support and project‑based work, giving me exposure to different areas of HR and how they work together to support colleagues and the wider business.
On a day‑to‑day basis, I support the planning, coordination and delivery of engagement and listening activities, including helping to design sessions, manage communications, analyse feedback and create clear summaries of insights. I regularly help draft guidance, communications and resources for colleagues and managers, ensuring these are clear, inclusive and aligned with our organisational values. I also work closely with stakeholders across the business, coordinating inputs and supporting collaboration across teams.
Alongside this, I contribute to early careers and development initiatives as part of a working commitee. My role requires strong organisation, clear communication and adaptability, as priorities can change and I often balance multiple pieces of work at the same time. Overall, my apprenticeship allows me to develop practical HR skills while gaining a strong understanding of how People & Places supports culture, engagement and performance across the organisation.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my apprenticeship programme to a great extent. It provides the right balance between structured learning and hands‑on experience, allowing me to apply what I learn directly to my role. The variety of work keeps the programme engaging, and I value the exposure to different areas of HR, which has helped me build confidence and develop a broader understanding of the People & Places function.
I particularly enjoy being involved in meaningful projects that have a real impact on colleagues’ experiences, as well as opportunities to collaborate with others across the organisation. While balancing work, study and development can be challenging at times, this has helped me strengthen my time management and prioritisation skills. Overall, the programme has been both enjoyable and rewarding, supporting my professional development and helping me feel more confident in my role and future career.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
The opportunity to build and develop upon skills at Lloyds is great in role and outside of role. I would defintely suggest taking advantage of all the side of desk opportunities at Lloyds as this is a real opportunity to build on your skills further.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is generally well organised, but balancing learning requirements alongside work priorities can sometimes be challenging, which can make expectations harder to manage and communicate. However, this does pose the opportunity to further your resilience and build skills in regard to organisation and effective communication.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a good level of support from my employer, particularly through regular check‑ins, guidance from my manager and opportunities to ask questions. Support is generally accessible, though at times balancing operational demands with learning can affect how consistently that support can be utilised.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Support from our tutor is great.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The learning can sometimes be hard to apply in your role dependent on the area of the business you are placed in. For example, a module on reward may be hard to apply in your role if you aren't in that business area. However, overall the general learnings and understanding of the qualification do help you perform better in your role as you have a better overall understanding of different functions.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Socially Lloyds is a great place to work. There are countless networks, activities and side of desk activities to get involved in. The community Lloyds has built is great!
