Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Job role - Manufacturing Engineer, day to day is proving out toolsets and accompanied governance
Apprenticeship - EDAS, varied day to day throughout placements
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Overall very solid programme. Enjoyable and varied enough that most people can find their ideal job role. Looked after well and encouraged to succeed. Early organisational issues with college and placements, else would be 5 stars

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Improved as an engineer, person and with soft skills. Worked under some incredible managers who have helped me work through alot of issues. Easy to be inspired to improve when you work with so many astounding people

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Well structured with regards to pacing and planning over the 5 years. Cannot give 5 stars due to placement organisational issues and college organisational issues throughout 5 years (many can be attributed to change of management and staff), appears to have drastically improved under new head of programme in recent years.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
BAE, managers and early careers have been extremely supportive throughout my journey. Especially with mental health. The best I have ever experienced in my 16 years of working.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
College and Skills Coaches cannot be faulted if support is required. My skills coach has been very helpful with my EPA work, and college tutors will always give you their free time if you ask for help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I have used a few skills learnt through qualification, many are not relevant to my role. But the unspoken skills acquired during, such as soft skills and general engineering knowledge/practice
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
All of the previously mentioned reasons. The company is great, it looks after you and provides many opportunities to grow and develop no matter what role you are in.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Spend the time to research the company, its products and the industry. The application process is very competitive, the company heavily invest in their apprentices education and growth, and do not want someone who is not 100% committed. Take that extra time to be informed, it makes all the difference
