Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
he day typically begins with surveying and setting out. This is followed by coordinating with suppliers to order materials, meeting with stakeholders, and completing quality documentation for handover.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The programme is great, and the BAM degree apprenticeship itself is excellent. However, there is a lack of support from Leeds College of Building, particularly regarding some of the lecture content.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
have developed my skills in surveying and setting out, as well as in construction processes. However, the biggest area of development has been my soft skills, particularly when working with external parties.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The overall course is well structured and organised however, at times there is a lack of knowledge and oversight during certain periods of the year.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
The site team I work with are very supportive, and I am given time to study. However, additional study time would be appreciated due to the high volume of lecture content.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive some support from my training provider when working towards my qualifications; however, there are times when the level of guidance is limited. While the course is generally well organised, there can be a lack of oversight and clarity during certain periods, which makes it challenging to fully understand some of the lecture content. Additional support throughout the year would be beneficial.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel that the course has helped me gain a wider understanding of construction overall. However, I’ve noticed that some of the content is not directly relevant to my role, so those areas do not have a significant impact on my day‑to‑day work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I am a member of the ICE Early Careers Network, as well as a member of Future BAM, an inclusion network within the company. These groups have allowed me to gain wider exposure across the organisation and develop my understanding beyond my day‑to‑day role.
