Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Computacenter?
I have really enjoyed working here and think it is a great graduate scheme. It is very challenging and encourages you to learn a lot in a short amount of time. Everyone who works here is more than helpful and always encourages graduates to ask for help, making time for them whenever they can.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
The main responsibility of the sales associate role is to ensure that you are making the most of the time your team gives you by learning as much as possible. This also includes staying on top of your rotations and being fully prepared for pitch battles, as well as any other assessments you complete during the scheme.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
3/5
During the graduate scheme, you are mainly on learning rotations, so you do not contribute anything particularly meaningful during this time. However, once you have graduated, you become customer‑facing and feel that you have more of an impact on the company.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
We have many different events and are often invited to customer events, such as going to the O2 or taking customers out for dinner.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
3/5
I think the role prepares us well for our future careers; however, I would like to be involved in the real job a little more. For example, being given less critical accounts would help us get used to working more independently, and it would be beneficial to have the opportunity to qualify and manage our own accounts at this stage.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
I would say that I am constantly learning new skills, particularly through the material I am studying. The majority of what I have learned since starting is completely new to me, and I had no prior knowledge of it before joining. I have also received training in different sales techniques and have met many different people since starting.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
The support provided is excellent and very proactive. We are assigned a buddy, who is a graduate from the year above, a coach who is an account manager, and a mentor who is a client director.
How is your work-life balance?
3/5
This could be improved, as we have presentations to complete every other week and a larger assessment roughly once a month. In the lead‑up to these assessments and presentations, I often work on weekends and after work, which can take away from my social life.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
The culture is great; everyone is very friendly and encourages you to socialise with the team. However, the office can occasionally be quite quiet, for example on Fridays and Mondays.
How would you rate Computacenter initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
I would say that Computacenter performs very well in this area, and I think that largely comes down to its culture. We are encouraged to attend events such as Women in Tech awards, and the company also hosts various diversity and inclusion evenings.
How would you rate Computacenter CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
2/5
I would like to see more opportunities like this that we are informed about and invited to.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Computacenter to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think this is a great opportunity to get into the industry, and the amount of education provided across different departments is excellent.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
4/5
I did not have any expectations of the role, as I was very new to the industry; however, the culture has definitely lived up to my expectations.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Computacenter?
I would say to be yourself. You need to decide whether the company is right for you just as much as they need to decide whether you are right for them. The scheme can be intense, and you are asked to show what you have learnt a lot rather than being left unsure of what you should be doing. However, if you are ready to be challenged and are a keen learner, this role would suit you well.
