Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Currently in a Business Analyst rotation. This includes gathering and documenting requirements from users on how they would like a software system to function, the features they need, how they intend to use it, and the improvements that should be seen compared to the current system. On a day-to-day basis, I will review requirements to ensure they are clear for developers, contribute to technical documentation, review UI design mock-ups, and map 'as-is' and 'to-be' processes.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The programme has been rotational allowing me to explore a wide range of roles tailored to my interests. I have been able to develop a wide range of technical and non-technical skills, including gaining industry recognised qualifications. I have been given a large amount of support and advice on how to develop within my career and on a day-to-day basis.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Learnt basic Python, low-code/no-code development, stakeholder management, requirements elicitation, cloud engineering, regulatory and compliance

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Loose structure to the programme. Apprentices are highly encouraged to complete 8-month long rotations throughout various areas of the business, but rotations can be extended or changed according to the individuals preference.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Apprentice team are helpful with any questions or concerns about the programme, including helping to find rotations if unsure about next steps. Regular touch-ins to check progress. Support within rotation can vary largely based on how much experience the team has with managing apprentices, understanding of the apprenticeship scheme and personal interest. Some teams have structured and dedicated mentors who intentionally carve out developmentally appropriate opportunities, whilst others may not have time/experience
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Not much information given about EPA, sometimes difficult to contact lecturers, inconsistent information given concerning the programme as a whole
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Modules were often generic and lacked depth needed for a professional environment, often I had more knowledge on a module learnt through the workplace than what was being taught in the module. Many modules were not relevant to any rotation I completed. Specialism year was more helpful, but again lacked the depth of knowledge needed to perform a specialist role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Relevant A-Levels to the programme you are applying to aren't necessary as long as you can show you have a genuine interest in the subject and can demonstrate proactive learning
